Installation

You must be logged on as a user in the Administrator group to install XLSior.

Start the installation process by double clicking on the file xlsior.exe that you downloaded. You will be asked to accept the license terms, and then choose a folder into which the files will be installed. You can choose any folder you like: if it doesn't exist, it will be created.

Then

  • Make sure that you have a workbook (any workbook) open in Excel
  • Choose Add-ins... from the Tools menu.
  • If XLSior appears as an entry in the list of available add-ins, make sure there is a check mark in the box next to it. Click the OK button.
  • If XLSior does not appear in the list, use the Browse button to find the file XLSior.xla in the directory into which you unpacked the files. It should now appear in the list. Click the OK button.

A screen will appear telling you which version of XLSior is running and describing your licensing information. You must enter a valid license key before you can use XLSior.

Licensing

You cannot use XLSior until you have a license. Evaluation licenses are free, last for 30 days, and are available from the XLSior website. The website also has information about buying other licenses.

Whatever type of license you get, the license information consists of the licensee and license key. Both these pieces of information must be entered exactly as you receive them: you may prefer to copy and paste them rather than retype them by hand.

Use the Enter license key button on the About XLSior screen to enter the information.

XLSior will not allow you to enter a licensee and license key that it does not recognise, but will allow you enter a key that it recognises but is not valid (for example, it is for an old version or is past its expiry date). The license information that you enter replaces any previous information.

By entering your license information and clicking OK on the About XLSior screen you are agreeing to the Software License Agreement that is displayed on the About XLSior screen.

After installation

The About XLSior screen will appear whenever XLSior starts up if you do not have a valid license, or if your current license will expire in the next two weeks, or if you have an evaluation license. Under these circumstances it will also reappear every few hours.

If you have entered valid license information, XLSior will be loaded whenever you open Excel. Whenever it is loaded there will be a new item on the menubar, called XLSior.

All the XLSior functionality is accessible through this menu item. In particular, online help is available through menu item XLSior > Help.
