XLSior conventions
XLSior has conventions for worksheet names and background colours.
Worksheet names
XLSior adds a number of worksheets to your workbooks, depending on your preferences and the commands you use.All worksheets used by XLSior have names beginning with the two characters X~. In most cases you should not rename these sheets (the exceptions are some of the sheets used for testing and importing).
The following sheet names are used by XLSior:
- X~Comments
- List of cell comments in the workbook, inserted and updated by the AutoDocument > List cell Comments command.
- X~Imp...
- Sheets with this prefix contain import definitions.
- X~Internal
- This is a special sheet used by XLSior. It is not accessible to the user.
- X~Links
- List of external links in the workbook, inserted and updated by the AutoDocument > List external Links command.
- X~Names
- List of sheets in the workbook, inserted and updated by the AutoDocument > List Names command.
- X~Sheets
- List of sheets in the workbook, inserted and updated by the AutoDocument > List Sheets command.
- X~Summary
- Summary of workbook information, updated by the AutoDocumentation commands and when tests are run.
- X~Techniques
- List of advanced techniques used on each worksheet, inserted and updated by the AutoDocument > List advanced Techniques command.
- X~Test...
- Sheets with this prefix contain test definitions.
- X~TestResults
- Results of the last set of tests run by the Tests > Run Tests command.
- X~Versions
- This sheet contains a record of all the versions and releases that have been made from the workbook.
You should not change the names of any of these sheets, except the test definition and import definition sheets. In addition, the definition sheets are the only sheets whose contents you should change. Also, you should avoid giving any other sheets any name beginning with X~.
Background colours
XLSior uses colours to indicate the function and contents of cells in the worksheets it uses. These colours are as follows:
- Dark teal or plum with white text for headings
- Light grey for cells whose contents have been written by XLSior
- Light yellow with a red border to indicate failure on tests
- Light green for cells expecting user inputs
- Light yellow for comments and documentation

You may find it useful to use these colours on your own sheets too, for consistency.
